AN INVESTIGATOR!!! (I'm sorry that was so lame; clearly I am struggling with a good pun on fur vests that doesn't have to do with either the Cheetah Girls or a family of ferrets.) My sincere apologies for my lack of recent blog posts! (The struggle lies in forcing myself to get out of my cookie monster pajamas and stop watching American Horror Story...) The usual unmotivated college student, I have been having my quarter-life crisis where all I do is eat ramen noodles and watch Julia Stiles movies only to the cry alone for hours because of my lack of good '90s hair and lack of a boyfriend...and of course then I look at my phone and see that seven hours have passed and the only thing that has changed is my laptop's battery power and the hideous state of my unwashed hair. But *drumroll* here we are and here is my usual rambling on taking fashion risks and how to do so (hopefully you're better at it that me and do a little outfit planning...faux fur does not play well with rain, I discovered. Unless you enjoy the smell of mildewy puppies, that is.) FAUX FUR IS AWESOME, OKAY? I'll admit that I was a hater for a while, back before I saw the charm and beauty of every furry bag Cher Horowitz owned, but now I've seen the light--or the fuzz?--and I'm all about it. These days I can't resist a good fur vest, collar, or jacket, and I've even considered copping myself a faux fur backpack like Cher. If you're still not all that into fur but would try a test run, give a coat with a fur accent a go! In addition, if your main concern is the professionalism of fur, try the minimalistic neutral look, like this classy dress. Vest: thrifted (originally from F21) ($6) (BEEN WAITIN’ SO LONG TO BUST THIS SUCKA OUT) (ALSO IT FEELS LIKE A POLAR BEAR IS HUGGING ME SOFTLY) Crop top: borrowed from a friend; thanks Shannon! High-waisted jeans: H&M ($15) (Seriously best jeans ever aside from my beloved Joni Topshop jeans. Go H&M for making a comfy and affordable high waisted jean for vertically challenged human beings.) Booties: H&M ($25) REAL LEATHER!!! (can you hear my screaming??) Necklaces: Small, F21 ($4) Long, ASOS ($3) (also featuring my favorite lipstick color as per usual: Revlon Black Cherry, $4) Even though it was raining and my entire body and all its crevasses got a little too damp for my liking, I’m glad I got my butt out of the room to show off my wild animal pelt aka my vest that looks like it is made out of a small family of ferrets (here is the ferret joke.) I’ve been seeing faux fur a lot on the ol' instagram (Hi Khloe Kardashian) and in basically EVERY magazine--and have even had a week's worth of fashion classes dedicated to its recent rise in popularity--but was a little nervous to go all-out with a vest or jacket…until I found one for dirt cheap at my local thrift store. (If you haven’t already learned, I’m the kind of person who won’t spend more than $50 on something I really need, but hey, if it’s under $10 and kinda/semi/moderately cool, I’ll blow my whole life savings!!!) Glad I got to finally dress like a diva and once again, thanks to the WONDERFUL Maggie Scruggs for taking my photos, especially in weather from Lucifer himself. LOVE YOU LONG TIME, SCRUGGS. And thanks to my two fans and house cats that actually read my blog. ilysm and hi mom!!!
